Nicaragua was first a favorite vacation spot, then where I invested in property, and now the location of an airport shuttle van business I have started: Adelante Express.
This service provides much needed ground transportation between the Managua airport and San Juan del Sur, the country's most popular beach town on the Pacific coast.

Five jobs have been created by the business, and we're also providing work to a growing number of independent contractors.
Building this business meant taking on virtually every challenge that I have helped my clients to face: from recruitment to training; from marketing to organizational development; and from developing a Web-based reservation system to ensuring the reliable flow of critical information to our office staff and drivers.

The business is now run by a management team recruited from within Nicaragua. As with any new business, our start-up was hard work. But we are reassured by the warm welcome extended by our customers and we look forward to growing right along with our market.

Nicaragua's charm and tropical beauty has also stirred a love of the visual image that years ago motivated me to work as a professional photographer, then taking on marketing and corporate communications projects. Now, in this land that's new to me, I am rediscovering my old love of telling stories with pictures.

I'm honored that the images I've brought back have been used in both advertising and editorial applications, including an article in the Los Angeles Times Travel Section, Tranquility in an old trouble spot, written by Susan Stroh.

This section of my site is to share my love of Nicaragua and to provide a portal to other sites providing information on Nicaragua in general and San Juan del Sur in particular.
These images are categorized as either Hot Shots or Sketch Shots. The Hot Shots were taken only in the San Juan del Sur area. They were taken on Fujichrome Velvia professional slide film using a Contax 35mm SLR camera.

The Sketch Shots, taken with a 2 megapixel digital camera, are completely adequate for use on a Web page or as small images in a print piece. Sketch Shots also include some Hot Shot out takes.
All images are arranged by location. Click a link in the directory (above) to be taken to a series of thumbnail pages. Click a thumbnail to see the image larger. In the San Juan del Sur section only, images are organized into separate pages for Hot Shots and Sketch Shots.

All of these images are posted here for the personal enjoyment of my growing family of Nicaragua friends.
